And they lived happily ever after....
Or that was supposed to be how the story ended. Unfortunately for Eden Kendrick, a new enemy threatens her beloved kingdom, one more dangerous and deadly than ever before. After enjoying a deliciously elongated honeymoon, Eden returns to the Citadel with her husband and happiness intact. She's unexpectedly pregnant, but that's just one more blessing to add to her blooming happiness.
Eden's heart is full and her endless life has never been happier. That is until Dmitri Terletov returns from the dead and threatens everyone she loves and the kingdom she worked so hard to build. This time around, Eden is supposed to be shielded from the conflict. She has her growing babies to protect now and Kiran wants her as far from the battle as possible. Although she's a little stir-crazy with idle hands, she agrees that keeping away from Terletov and his deadly experiments is definitely the right course of action.
Unfortunately, Terletov doesn't agree. And when he arrives at the Castle, uninvited and desperate for the magic Eden once stole from him, she has no choice but to fight once again to save the people she was born to protect.

4.5 stars -- LOVED being back in Eden's head. LOVED the chemistry of Eden and Kiran. SO GLAD this tied up some of the loose ends from The Relentless Warrior -- like how they escaped and all that. It really makes it so that you *need* to read this book afterwards to get the whole perspective. LOVED how powerful Eden is again -- especially together with Kiran. LOVED all the sassiness and snark as usual. The grief over Gabriel and Silas was a bit better here than in TRW, but I still felt a little bit disconnected from them, so still not as impactful as I would like.
And while it was nice to get the Eden perspective of the end of TRW, I guess somewhere in my head I wanted just a smidge more....but that could be b/c I'm greedy. :)

Breathless Magic (Audible Audio Edition) Rachel Higginson Bailey Carr Audible Studios Books Reviews
So miss Eden and Karin and Amelia and Avalon oh the story it was great I was very thankful for it after there books ended I had missed them I missed Avalon to just getting the glimpse back was so so wonderful can I tell you how much I love the name Analisa the 5 stages of love also sounds like a great one looking forward to it
You can never have too much Kiran and Eden. I have adored this couple from the beginning and this little novella about them post-marriage was such a treat for fans of the series. It does my hopelessly romantoc heart good to see such a strong couple fight for love and win.
love this series but seems to be taking forever to be written Not sure why. Rachel I have read all your books and want more but seems like you have taken on a lot lately and should just try to wrap some things up before starting anything new but don't stop completely for sure. I actually re-read this and found it better than the first time. Hope you take good care of Tristan Rachel and Piper too.
If I could read one series for the rest of my life, it would be The Star-Crossed series. I never get tired of these characters and their stories. This novella was absolute perfection. I love Eden and Kiran SO much. I really hope they get another book of their own...after the babes are born!! Thank you Rachel for this novella. I hope this series never ends.
I loved the Star-Crossed Series. The first 4 books were very well written and kept me engaged (minus the atrocious typos along the way). I even enjoyed the two prior, the Reluctant King, and the Restless Warrior. This one left me feeling like i just re-read the end of the Restless Warrior from Eden's point of view and there was NO CONCLUSION. This should have really been the final installment but I feel like its being milked for everything its worth. For only 8 chapters I feel completely ripped off.
While in the previous books of this series, the author quite frequently changed the details of various scenes from book to book, the changes were much worse during this short story. It felt like at least 80 percent of the details and timelines were changed. The book contained very little in the way of new details and nothing, in my opinion, that could not be presented in a different setting better. However I am not the author and it appeared that the main purpose of this short story was to present the new/revised story lines. I enjoyed the previous books of this series and would recommend their reading, but this book, don't bother.
I love this series! I will read anything Rachel writes because it never disappoints! Even with this book. I was reading the same story from the book before it. I love being able to read other characters point of view )
With that being said, it would have been better if this story was molded with the one before it. It's the same story so each chapter & point of view could easily switch back & forth between the two books & made the last book that much better!
However, since Rachel really does care about her readers, chances are she wrote this as an after thought once the last book was published. This was likely written just for us to have that much more of the story.
